muscle pain (myalgia)
What is it?
Muscle pain or aches (myalgia) are incredibly common.
With muscles being located in almost every part of the body the main causes of muscle pain are generally overuse, overexertion, too much stress and tension, sedentary lifestyles, not warming up or down in preparation for physical activity.
Less common factors being infection of soft tissues or inflammatory conditions.
Muscle pain can be localised to one area or diffuse, in addition to pain referral from one place to another. Muscles in the shoulders and neck can refer pain to the head causing headaches for example.
