Canโ€™t get to the gym? Workout from home!

There are many ways that you can workout from home just by using your body weight, however resistance bands are a cheap and easy piece of equipment to enhance your routine. Not only can they be used for strength training but resistance bands are commonly used for targeting specific joints to speed up the rehabilitation process following an injury.

Easy home exercises

Squats

One of the best exercises to do at home because it targets the glutes, quads and core helping to improve balance and prevent injury! Itโ€™s a great body weight exercise to do but to increase the difficulty stand on a resistance band and hold the band shoulder width apart.

Chest press

You donโ€™t need a barbell to work out the chest! Simply attach a resistance band to something secure and stable behind you and youโ€™re able to chest press! An excellent upper body exercise to train the chest, triceps and shoulders.

Resistance band seated rows

A great exercise for increasing upper back strength and improving your posture! Begin by finding something sturdy to wrap your band around, such as a table leg, then with the band in front of you sit far enough away from the table so that the band is under tension. Keeping your elbows tucked in, row back and squeeze your shoulder blades together.

Plank

The plank is great exercise for increasing endurance across multiple different muscle groups. To begin, place your forearms on the floor with elbows below shoulders and arms parallel to your body at about shoulder width, your feet should be on your tiptoes about shoulder width apart. Aim to hold this position for as long as you feel comfortable with and remember to breathe!

Can this help back pain?

Absolutely! Your posture can play a big role in causing or worsening back pain, prolonged periods spent at a desk can cause muscle imbalances often leading to your head coming forward, rounded shoulders and an increased arch in the lower back. By working out at home you can correct these muscle imbalances, if youโ€™re unsure what exercises will benefit you most or how often to work out then speak to your Chiropractor!
