What is it?

The ankle consists of multiple bones, ligaments and tendons which are designed to give you mobility and stability.

There are various causes of ankle pain owing to the different structures involved.

Causes:

The most common types of injuries for the ankle are sprains, Achilles tendinopathy, stress fractures, plantar fasciitis. 

These can be induced by direct trauma, sporting injuries or long-term functional issues such as flat feet.


Common symptoms 

  • Swelling

  • Pain (pin point or diffuse)

  • Bruising 

  • Difficulty weight bearing 

  • Reduction in mobility 

Diagnosing Ankle Pain

Here at The Woodstock Chiropractor, we always carry out an in-depth medical history followed by a thorough physical examination where we test the function of your nerves and muscles and then the mobility of your joints as well as using specialised orthopaedic and neurological tests to locate the exact cause of your pain. 

Our Chiropractors will also assess gait, footwear and look at functional strategies to help diagnose and alleviate your foot pain.

Our Chiropractic team are fully trained in assessing and fitting orthotics if required. The clinic works very closely with a specialist podiatrist and laboratory to offer a fully tailored orthotic service if clinically required.
